A few days back, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S22 series during its “Galaxy Unpacked” event. During the event, the company also announced the Galaxy Tab S8 series as well. Both Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus share most of the specifications while the S22 Ultra is different. Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Plus Overview:
Display and Design
Starting with the display, Both devices come with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display which can automatically vary the refresh rate between 10Hz to 120Hz. The smaller S22 sports a 6.1-inch panel (up to 1,300 nits) while the S22 Plus fits a larger 6.6-inch display (up to 1,750 nits). Likewise, both panels support 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and feature a punch-hole design.
Unlike the Ultra model, both devices have a similar design to the S21 series. Now, you get are getting glass back on both models protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Their body is IP68 water and dust resistance and can survive for 30 minutes under 1.5m water. Moreover, both devices are offered in four different color options: Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Pink Gold. In addition, there are three more color options (Cream, Graphite, and Sky Blue) that are exclusive to Samsung.com.
Camera
The two devices share the same camera setup. There is a 50MP Samsung GN5 main camera with a 1/1.57-inch sensor with 1μm pixels. It comes with 4-in-1 binning technology and produces 12.5MP images. Likewise, the main camera features OIS as well as dual-pixel PDAF. The second is the 10MP telephoto lens that comes with 3x Optical Zoom, PDAF, and OIS.
At last, there is a 12MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree field of view. Similarly, it has a 10MP front-facing camera with Dual Pixel PDAF. Talking about the video recording, you can capture up to 8k@24fps from the rear camera whereas the front can go up to 4k@60fps.
Performance
Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus are powered by the same chipset as the S22 Ultra. They come with either Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset or Exynos 2200 variant. The variant coming to Nepal will pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
Talking about the memory configuration, both handsets come with 8GB of RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. These smartphones run on Android 12 out of the box with One UI 4.1 on top. Furthermore, Samsung will be providing 4 years of Major Android updates and 5 years of security patches with these new flagships.

Here, the Galaxy S22 packs a smaller 3700mAh battery whereas the S22 Plus gets a 4500mAh cell. Also, the wired charging speed on the S22 is limited to just 25W whereas the S22 Plus charges at 45W speed. Moreover, both devices support 15W Qi wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
