Overview

Camera

There are minor changes in Vivo Y51 as compared with last year’s Vivo S1 Pro. This latest Vivo Y51 comes with triple camera at the back with a primary lens of 48MP f/1.8, a ultrawide lens of 8MP f/2.2 and a 2MP f/2.4 macro lens. Here, we are missing a 2MP depth sensor but it not going to make any difference. This device is capable of recording 4k@30fps and 1080p@30fps.

On the front it has a 16MP sensor which is recording 1080p@30fps. If you are looking for a good camera phone then you can choose other phones like galaxy M51, Poco X3 or even galaxy M31.

Design and Built Quality

Taking about the design, almost every Chinese phones are good looking. Vivo Y51 measures 163.86 x 75.82 x 8.38mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 188 grams. It has glass back design with nice looking finish. It has rectangular camera module while looks similar to Vivo X60 Series.

On the front it has small notch at the top which holds a 16MP selfie camera. Its chin is little bit thick but for the price it is totally fine. It has dual SIM-slot with a dedicated micro-SD slot. Vivo Y51 also has Type-C port which is common in budget phones these days. Unfortunately, there is no in-display fingerprint sensor but it has side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It has two color options: Titanium Sapphire and Crystal Symphony.

Display

This latest device comes with 6.58-inch Full HD LCD panel with ~82.2 screen to body ratio. This panel has ~415 ppi density and 21:9 aspect ratio. This display has good amount of brightness and provides decent looking color and contrast. If you are a multimedia consumer then you can get other phone with better display like Galaxy M51 or Galaxy M31.

Performance and Memory

Vivo Y51 comes with Snapdragon 665 chipset. If we see its competitors like Poco X3, Galaxy M51 then they comes with better gaming chipset. Snapdragon 665 is even slower than Helio G85 chipset. With its slower chipset, gamers are disappointed from this phone.

Taking about the memory configuration, it has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Although it has 8GB of RAM it cannot perform as good as Poco X3 or Galaxy M51 because of its slower chipset. If you are looking for a good performer then better to go with its alternatives.

Vivo Y51 comes with huge 5000mAh battery which is again not a surprise in this price range. We have seen lots of phone with high battery capacity in this price category like Galaxy M51 with 7000mAh battery. Vivo Y51 support 15W of fast wired charging which is slower than Galaxy M51’s 25W of Poco X3’s 33W fast wired charging. If we go though the advisement from Vivo then this 18W charger can charge this 5000mAh battery from 0-70% in 67 minutes. This device can give you 1 and half day of battery life for moderate usage.
