Samsung Galaxy M42 5G Overview:
As we mentioned earlier, it will be the first 5G-enabled smartphone in the M-series. The company will launch it as the successor to the Galaxy M40. However, Galaxy M42 5G is rebranded Galaxy A42 5G.
Display and Design
The Samsung Galaxy M42 5G sports a 6.6-inch “Infinity-U” Super AMOLED display with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. Comparing it with other competing devices side by side, it looks quite outdated because other smartphones are using punch-hole cutout which looks much better over a notch.
Since it is a rebadged Galaxy A42 5G, it looks identical to Galaxy A42 5G. There will be a square camera module at the back that houses a quad rear camera setup with a LED flash just below the camera bump. Due to the AMOLED panel, the company has placed the fingerprint sensor beneath the front glass. The device is available in two different color options: Prism Dot Black and Prism Dot Gray.
Camera
The handset will flaunt a quad-camera at the back. There is a 48MP ISOCELL GM2 sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. It is followed by an 8MP ultrawide lens with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 123-degree field of view. In addition, there is a pair of 5MP macro and depth cameras from macro and depth shots.
On the front, it has a 20MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.2 which is capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps. The rear camera setup can record 4k@30fps, 1080p@30fps, and 720p@480fps. You get different features on the rear camera like Night Mode, Single Take, Super-Slow Motion, and so on.

Performance and Memory
Moving to performance, the Galaxy M42 packs a Snapdragon 750G chipset. It is based on 5nm process technology and has a Snapdragon X52 modem for 5G connectivity. The chipset has two Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.2Ghz frequency and six more Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8Ghz frequency.
The phone is available two RAM options of 6GB or 8GB paired with 128GB of internal storage. If you need more space then you can insert a microSD card for expanding the storage. It ships with Android 11 with One UI 3.1 on the top.
Rest of the Specs
The battery has been a highlighting feature of every M-series device. But this time, we are getting a slightly smaller 5000mAh battery. Still, Samsung provided 15W charging which is very slow as compared with its competitors.
In terms of connectivity, the phone features 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, FM Radio, Type-C 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The first sale of the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G is scheduled for May 1 through Samsung.com and Amazon India. It costs INR 21,999 for the 6/128GB model and INR 23,999 for the 8/128GB model. The expected price of the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G in Nepal is NPR 39,999 for the 6/128GB variant.
