Display and Design
Redmi Note 8 2021 comes with a 6.3-inch IPS LCD panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has a Full HD resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels resulting in a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and 500 nits of typical brightness. The display has different modes like reading mode, sunlight display, and dark mode. There is a dot drop notch at the top.
The device measure 158.3 x 75.3 x 8.35 mm and weighs around 190g. The back panel has made-up glass which is also protected by gorilla glass 5. It has a pill-shaped camera bump that houses a quad-camera setup and the fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear panel. For water and dust protection, it has splash-resistant nano-coating. The phone is available in three different color options: Space Black, Neptune Blue, and Moonlight White.
Camera
As I mentioned earlier, Redmi Note 8 2021 flaunts a quad-camera setup on the back. The setup is led by a 48MP primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.79 and 0.8μm pixels. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide lens and a pair of 2MP macro and depth cameras for macro shots and depth data. On the front, it has a 13MP selfie camera inside the notch.
The rear camera can record up to 30 fps (EIS) which is a downgrade from 4k@30fps. For 120fps slow-motion, you have to scale down to 720p resolution.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 8 2021 has a MediaTek’s Helio G85 chipset based on a 12nm manufacturing process. It features an octa-core CPU with a clock speed up to 2.0Ghz and has a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU. It runs on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out of the box.
The handset is offered with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM mated with either 64GB or 128GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. You get a dedicated microSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 256GB.
