Display and Design

Here, the Realme 8 5G sports a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and has a 90.5% screen to body ratio. It has a 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The display has a left-aligned punch-hole cutout that houses a front-facing camera. Furthermore, it has 600 nits of maximum brightness which is pretty dim.

The device measure 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.5 mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 185g. There is a rectangular camera bump on the rear panel for a triple camera setup and a LED flash. Thankfully, big “Dare To Leap” branding is missing here. However, you get a small “REALME” branding that looks cool. The phone is available in two color options: Supersonic Black and Supersonic Blue.

Camera and Performance

The handset has a 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor as a primary sensor. It has an aperture of f/1.8 and with pixel binning technology, it produces 12MP images. If you want 48MP images then there is a 48MP mode for you. The primary sensor is accompanied by a pair of 2MP black & White and macro camera. Upfront, there is a 16MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.1.

Under the hood, the Realme 8 5G packs a Dimensity 700 5G chipset based on 7nm process technology. It is coupled with varieties of memory configurations: 4/64GB, 4/128GB, 6/128GB, and 8/128GB. There is a dedicated MicroSD slot if you want storage space. It ships with Android 11 out of the box with Realme UI 2.0 skin on the top.

Realme 8 5G features a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W of fast charging. There is plenty of power-saving modes but decreases the performance of the device. As per connectivity, the phone supports 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS, and has USB Type-C 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
