Oneplus 8 Pro is a high-end flagship phone and Oneplus Nord is a budget phone from Oneplus. And now Oneplus came with the new upper-midrange phone which looks like a flagship with some compromises. Oneplus 8T is competing against Apple iPhone 12 and Pixel 5. But Oneplus didn’t announce about one plus 8T pro this time. There was already Oneplus 8 in this price range from Oneplus but Oneplus 8t comes with some improvement in camera, display and design. Rear Camera

Oneplus had no good history with their cameras. They are good but can’t match the level of iPhone, Samsung, Pixel and Huawei. Oneplus8T is also good in its range but its lags behind its competitors like Pi xel 5 and iPhone 12. This brand new Oneplus 8T comes with Quad Camera at the back with a primary 48MP (Sony IMX 586) wide lens with OIS which is the same sensor used in 2 Years old Oneplus 6T but Oneplus 8T has good optimization so it performs better. It has a 16MP ultra-wide lens with aperture f/2.2 and 123-degree field of view, a 5MP macro lens with aperture f/2.4 and a 2MP depth sensor. Only primary and the ultrawide lens is good. It’s better to have a telephoto lens rather than having two useless macro and depth sensors. This device is capable of recording 4k@30/60fps and 1080P@30/60/240fps.

Front Camera

On the front, it has a punch hole selfie camera of 16MP f/2.4 lens. It can only record at 1080p@30fps. If we see other phones at a similar price, we can get a better rear as well as a selfie camera. If you want a phone for the camera then this is not a phone for you.

Design and Built Quality

Looking at the new Oneplus 8t, it looks similar to Huawei phones. But its design is definitely good. It has a glossy glass back protected by gorilla glass 5 and has an aluminium frame. You get a rectangular camera cut-out at the back unlike other Oneplus phones with vertically arranged cameras.

On the front, it has a punch hole cut-out for a 16MP selfie camera. Its front glass is protected by gorilla glass 5 while other competitors are using the latest gorilla glass Oneplus still using old gorilla glass 5. It is also not IP-certified. This is also a downside to this phone. Overall, its design is good and at the first look, it definitely looks like a flagship.

Display

This is a major change on Oneplus 8t over its predecessor Oneplus 8. Oneplus 8t comes with a 6.55-inch 1080p 120Hz Fluid Amoled display with ~87% screen to body ratio. It is an HDR 10+ certified display with ~402 PPI density. This is a flat display, not a display with curved edges Its colour production is very good and for multimedia consumers, its display is best in this price range.

Performance

Oneplus is always good with the performance. And Oneplus 8t also doesn’t disappoint. It comes with a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 (7nm+) chipset coupled with fast 8GB/12GB of fast LP DDR5x RAM and 128GB/256GB of fast UFS 3.1 based storage.

This phone is really fast and smooth with its fast chipset and 120Hz display. You can play high-end games with high graphics on this device.

5G Connectivity

Since Oneplus 8t comes with a 5G enabled Snapdragon 865 chipset, we can enjoy a 5G network on this device. But here in Nepal, it might take over 3-5 years for our telecom to bring a 5G network.

Battery & Charging

This device comes with a 4500mAh dual cells battery with 65 Watt wired Charing which can charge your phone from 0-100% in around 40 minutes. Unfortunately, this phone doesn’t support wireless charging. You can expect a day battery backup on this device with moderate usage but for those who use the phone the whole day, you need to charge the phone.
