Apple’s annual WWDC 2021 took place yesterday. It was an online event like last year’s WWDC. The major talking point of the Apple WWDC 2021 Keynote was the iOS 15, 1PadOS 15, macOS Monterey, and watchOS 8. Here in this article, we will have a look at the top features of iOS 15.
iOS 15 Top Features:
1. Changes to FaceTime
Apple announced a bunch of new changes to FaceTime. Now, you can watch TV shows, movies, and listen to music during a FaceTime conversation. You will also be able to share a screen, watch a movie together, and listen to music together. The spatial audio makes the audio sounds like they’re coming from the direction in which each participant in FaceTime is positioned on your screen which helps conservations flow more naturally.
Also, FaceTime now supports portrait mode, this mode puts the focus on you, not on your background. Another new feature of FaceTime is voice isolation which minimizes background noise and puts your voice front and center. Just like Zoom, you can send a link to friends and family to connect on FaceTime which is supported on both Windows and Android.
2. Message and New Memoji
Now, there will be a Shared with You portion on Message which shows the shared links, images, and other contents. It is also available in Photos, Safari, Apple News, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and the Apple TV app.
iOS 15 allows you to choose outfits for your Memoji and show yourself with new stickers. You can customize your look and style with multicolor headwear and some other customization includes cochlear implants, oxygen tubes, and soft helmets.
3. Focus and Notifications
Focus helps you to concentrate on your work and only shows the notifications you want. You can choose different focus options such as Driving, Fitness, Gaming, and Reading. When you are using Focus, your status will be displayed in Messages.
Now, the contact photo appears on the notifications and the size of app icons is increased to make them easier to identify.
4. Maps and Wallet
Apple has improved road details like turn lanes, crosswalks, and bike lanes and a new dedicated driving map helps you to see incidents and traffic conditions at a glance. You also get walking instruction which is very useful.
We can add our driver’s license or state ID to our wallet during a long tour and travel. Now, our iPhone can unlock our home, garage, hotel room, and workplace.
5. Live Text
Live Text allows you to make a call, send an email, or look up directions with just a tap on the highlighted text in a photo. The camera app also supports Live Text features, you can point your iPhone camera at the text and you can take action on it. Live Text also understands seven languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. You can translate just by a tap.
6. Health and Privacy
New update to the health app allows you to share your health data with your loved ones and medical experts. iOS 15 provides increased visibility into how apps access your data and protect you from unwanted data collection. It also gives you more control over what you choose to share.
