After the success of Pixel 3a Google is back again with another budget phone Pixel 4a. If you remember Pixel 4 was bust of the year 2019. Here Pixel 4a is competing against iPhone SE 2020 and Oneplus Nord. Pixel 4a is cheaper and comes with better camera quality. Although it is missing some features like IP certification and Premium design like iPhone SE 2020 but for the price of $350 it is totally fine. Camera
Pixel lineup is known for best camera. Especially for still photo and they are also good at videography but still can’t match the level of iPhone. This google pixel 4a features same camera sensor from previous year pixel 4. Pixel 4a tooks the better photo than its competitor but still its cant perform well on video like iphone SE 2020. It got improved HDR. Pixel 4a can shoot 4k@30fps and 1080P@30/60/120fps.
Camera
In the front it comes with 8MP lens with f/2.0. It can shoot video up to 1080P@30fps only. But for this price it’s totally fine.
Design and Built Quality
Pixel 4a is a plastic phones. Its back is plastic and frame is also plastic. There is square camera cutout at the back which holds a sing rear facing camera and a traditional rear mounted fingerprint sensor. When you hold this phone on your hand it fells cheap.
In the front it comes with a punch hole cut-out for front facing camera. The front glass is protected by old gorilla glass 3. Its design is not good as oneplus nord and iPhone SE 2020. But most the people will use case and screen protector in their phones.
Display
Pixel 4a is packed with 5.81-inch 1080P OLED display with ~83.3% screen-to-body ratio. This panel has ~443 pixel density and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Definitely its display is better than iPhone SE 2020 with ~720 LCD display. For better display you can add $50 more to get oneplus nord.
Performance
In terms of performance, Pixel 4a lags behind its competitors. It features Snapdragon 730G which is very slow as compared with iPhone SE 2020 with a13 bionic. But Pixel 4a 5G variant comes with slightly better Snapdragon 750G chipset which is a 5G enabled chipset.
Pixel 4a is powered by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage. This is performs fine for normal usage and can handle some high end games in medium setting without any problem.
5G Connectivity
Only Pixel 4a 5G variant comes with 5G support and regular pixel 4a comes with LTE support only.
Battery & Charging
Pixel 4a is packed with 3140mAh battery non-removable battery with 18W Fast charging support. It will give a day of battery life for mild usage.
