There is a total of 45 private colleges and 15 government college in Nepal which offers BSc CSIT course. We are only talking about the college which is affiliated with Tribhuvan University (TU). To get admitted to any college affiliated with TU in CSIT faculty, you have to pass the IOST entrance exam which you can crack by looking at some CSIT entrance preparation books.

One of the significant factors when choosing a private college has to be fee structure as well as location. However, we have selected the college depending on their education quality without taking fee structure as a reference in this list. You also have to be aware of previous results of the college which are freely available on the TU IOST website. Let’s have a look at the list of Best BSc CSIT Colleges in Nepal with a small overview.

BSc CSIT Eligibility

Not every student from a science background can study BSc CSIT. There are a few criteria to meet for admission to BSc CSIT in any college affiliated with Tribhuvan University. Here is the list:

• You should have completed your +2 education from a science background or equivalent.
• You should have scored a C in total in each subject of Class 11 and Class 12 with mathematics and physics 100 marks.
• At last, you must score 35 marks in the IOST entrance exam.

1. St. Xavier College

St. Xavier College is a very popular college. It is located (BSc CSIT Block) is located in Maitighar, Kathmandu. It has been a first-choice BSc CSIT college for lots of students in Nepal. This college also offers school-level education as well as different courses at Bachelor’s level.

Almost every student who cannot get admission to a government college should try this college. However, you have to be ranked under at least 1000 in the IOST entrance exam to get into St. Xavier college as it has very high competition.

2. Amrit Science Campus (ASCOL)

Amrit Science Campus widely known as ASCOL is one of the most popular CSIT colleges in Nepal. The main reason for this is the minimal fee structure as it is a government college. Talking about the fee structure, you have to pay around 3 lakhs for 4 year’s course. Moreover, it is located in Lainchaur, Kathmandu.

There is tough competition to get into this college as most of the top students prefer studying in ASCOL due to its affordable structure. The cutoff mark to get into ASCOL is around 65 if we take the 2022 intake as a reference. However, you have to wait till the 3rd-4th merit list if you have around 65 marks.

3. Patan Multiple Campus

After Ascol, most of the students prefer going to Patan Multiple Campus. However, this year the cutoff mark for Patan Multiple Campus is higher than that of ASCOL. To get into this college you have to be well prepared for the entrance exam you have to score around 70 out of 100 to get your name on at least the 2nd list. Moreover, it has a total of 148 seats for the CSIT program.

Patan Multiple Campus is located in Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur. Initially, it was established with the name “Patan Inter College” on 17th Bhadra, 2011BS. It was inaugurated by Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah on Bhadra 31, 2021BS.

4. Madan Bhandari Memorial College

Similarly, Madan Bhandari Memorial College is our fourth college on the list of best BSc CSIT colleges in Nepal. This college is located in New Baneshwor which is a prime location in Kathmandu valley. It is a non-profit making community institution making it an affordable college for most students.

The competition in the Madan Bhandari Memorial College is not tough as St. Xavier college, ASCOL, or Patan but you have to secure around 1200 ranks in the entrance exam to get your name on the first merit list.

5. Bhaktapur Multiple Campus

Bhaktapur Multiple Campus is yet another government college. It means the fee structure for BSc CSIT here on this campus is almost half that of private colleges or even more. It’s not as popular as the other two government colleges mentioned above but it is gaining students’ attention because of its affordability.

Bhaktapur Multiple Campus has half the capacity of Patan Campus as it only accepts only 74 new CSIT students every year. The college is located on Nagarkot Road, Bhaktapur.

6. Birendra Multiple Campus

Birendra Multiple Campus is located in Bharatpur, Chitwan. It is one of the government colleges proving BSc. CSIT course in Nepal. This college is the first priority college for almost every student of Chitwan and around that district. Being a government college, its fee is minimal and also provides good education quality.

That being said, it’s not too easy to get into this college as over 500 students of Chitwan fill out priority forms in this college as it only has 74 seats. The cutout-off mark for this college was around 57 this year so you can take this as a reference.

7. Prithvi Narayan Campus

For students in Pokhara, Prithvi Narayan Campus might be the option. Like other government colleges, its fee structure is very affordable as it costs less than 4 Lakhs for 8 semesters. It is situated in Bhim Kali Patan Marga 1, Pokhara, and is among the few CSIT colleges in Pokhara.

Although it’s a government college, there is no tough competition here like we see in ASCOL, Patan, Bhaktapur, and Birendra. This year, the college announced a first come first serve admission procedure. But for this, you have to wait along. To play safe, you can get around a 55 entrance score for sure shot admission.

8. Prime College

Prime college is next to be included in our list of best BSc CSIT colleges in Nepal. It is also a private college located in Nayabazar, Kathmandu. You can easily get into this college if you have secured an above 50 score in the IOST exam.

We are providing these cutout marks based on 2078 merits lists of different colleges. Prime college is considered one of the affordable private colleges for CSIT as its 4-year semester fee for CSIT is something around NPR 8 Lakhs.

9. New Summit College

New Summit is the next college on our list of best BSc CSIT colleges in Nepal. It is also located in Santinagar, Baneshwor, Kathmandu. This college is slightly well managed than the last one as well as a little affordable.

Taking the 2022 intake as a reference, IOST entrance passed candidates can get admission to this college. You shouldn’t be hurry when choosing college as I did. You can wait till 3rd merit list as most of the students fill out priority forms in multiple colleges.

10. Sagarmatha College of Science and Technology

If you are from Lalitpur then Sagarmatha College of Science and Technology is the best private college option for you. However, if you are not you can consider studying at this college as they provide quality education and has an excellent result. The only thing I didn’t like about this college is the fee structure. You have to pay over 10 Lakhs for this four-year course which is a little more expensive than other colleges included in this list.

Like other colleges mentioned above, it is not hard to get admission to this college. To get into this college, you just have to pass the entrance examination conducted by TU IOST.

A Mini-Guide: Choosing the Best College for BSc CSIT in Nepal

First of all, try hard to get good marks in the IOST Entrance Exam. If you are able to achieve about 65 marks in that exam, there will be a high probability of getting a chance to get admission to a government college. None of the private colleges gives you any special skills or knowledge, you have to learn everything on your own. So, it doesn’t make sense to pay around 10 lakhs for the private college which the government is providing at just around 3 lakhs.

So, get a good score in the entrance exam and apply for the government college. If you are not able to get a good score then you can choose the private choice near your residence or somewhere you prefer.
