Asus Zenfone 9 Overview
Design and Display
Asus Zenfone 9 measures 146.6 x 68.2 x 9.5 mm and weighs just 165g. Its frame is of aluminum while its back is made up of polymer material. Likewise, it comes with an IP68 rating making it dust and water-resistant.
Talking about its design, it has two big circular modules on the back housing two different cameras. It got Asus Zenfone branding on the bottom left corner has packs a fingerprint scanner on the power button. Moreover, there are four different shade options: Midnight Black, Moonlight White, Sunset Red, and Starry Blue.
Upfront, the design sports a 5.9-inch HDR10+ Samsung AMOLED display. It comes with a Full HD+ resolution and features a punch hole cutout aligned on the top left corner. Similarly, the display supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate. It covers up to 112% DCI-P3 and 151.9% sRGB color gamuts and got 1100 nits of peak brightness. Furthermore, it has Gorilla Glass Victus protection and supports Always-on-display.
Camera
On the rear side, the device is equipped with a dual camera setup. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor that has 1.0µm pixels. It has a six-axis hybrid gimbal stabilizer, which is three times more efficient than conventional OIS. It is capable of 2x lossless zoom at 16MP resolution.
The secondary camera is a 12MP Sony IMX363 module that has a 113-degree field of view. It comes with AutoFocus (AF) which means it can also capture macro images. Asus has provided an advanced EIS on the ultrawide lens for hyperSteady stabilization.
The primary is capable of recording videos up to 8k@240fps but it only uses EIS here and switching to 4k@60fps also doesn’t enable OIS. Similarly, you get a 12MP Sony IMX663 front-facing camera that can record videos up to 4k@30fps and it lacks any sort of stabilization.

Performance
Having a small body doesn’t mean you can have a powerful chipset. Here, Asus Zenfone 9 packs the latest and greatest Android chipset i.e Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset which also powers the Asus ROG Phone 6 series. The chipset has an octa-core CPU that peaks at 3.2Ghz and brings Adreno 730 GPU.
The device has either 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM where the 8GB variant got 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage option and the 16GB variant got only 256GB choice. On the software side, it runs on Android 12 with close to stock Android experience. Here, Asus has promised two major OS upgrades and two years of security patch updates.
For keeping temperature in check, the phone brings a vapor chamber cooling system. Moreover, it features Game Genie which shows game GPS, estimated battery life, phone temperature, and many more details.
