Design and Display
As we mentioned earlier, Asus ZenFone 8 is a compact flagship phone. It sports a 5.9-inch E4 AMOLED display with a punch-hole cutout on the top left corner protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. With a Full HD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, the aspect ratio has been fixed to a 20:9 ratio.
The display has support for a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Moreover, it is HDR10+ contents, has coverage for 112% DCI-P3 color gamut, and has 1,100 nits of maximum brightness.
The device measure 148 x 69.5 x 8.9 mm, and weighs around 169g. There is a rectangular camera bump housing a dual-camera setup and a LED flash. It has two linear speakers that have dual Cirrus Logic mono amps with support for Dirac HD Sound. The triple mic setup features OZO Audio Zoom and Noise reduction tech. A 3.5mm headphone jack is included in this device which is missing in maximum flagship phones these days. It is also IP68 certified and comes with two different color options: Obsidian Black, Horizon Silver.

Camera
Moving to the camera, the dual-camera setup has a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. It has 0.8μm pixels and features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). A 12MP Sony IMX363 ultrawide lens has an aperture of f/2.2 and a 112-degree field of view. It also works as a macro camera by focusing at a 4cm distance. Upfront, there is a 12MP Sony IMX663 front-facing camera. It has an aperture of f/2.5 and 1.22μm pixels.
Talking about the video recording capabilities, the primary rear camera can record 4k@30/60fps with EIS enabled. With OIS, it can record 1080p@30/60fps. You can record 1080p slow-motion videos at 240 frames per second while you can go up to 960fps during 720p slow-motion. Both ultrawide and front-facing cameras are capable of recording 4k and 1080p videos up to 60fps.
Performance and Memory
Under the hood, the ZenFone 8 packs a Snapdragon 888 5G chipset based on 5nm process technology. It features eight Kryo 680 cores with up to 2.84Ghz frequency and for handling graphics it has Adreno 660 GPU. It boosts on Android 11 with ZenUI 8 on the top.
The device is available in varieties of storage configurations: 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 16/256GB. Unfortunately, it lacks a microSD card slot.

Fueling the phone is a 4000mAh battery which is totally fine for such a small device. It has support for 30W HyperCharger, Quick Charge 4.0, and USB Power Delivery PPS. According to the company, the 30W charger can fully charge the 4000mAh battery in 80 minutes.
The phone feature 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and FM Radio. It has a smart key on the right frame which can be used to perform different actions.
