Display and Design

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 Pro sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED Panel with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2448 pixels. With a 144Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate, the display fells super responsive. It is also HDR10+ certified and supports up to 1B colors. The display has 1200 nits of maximum brightness, 395-PPI density, and protected by gorilla glass victus.

There is a PM-OLED display on the back that shows customizable graphics for incoming calls, while gaming is loading and so on. It has 10.3mm of thickness and weighs 238g. The camera module looks quite similar to last year’s model. There are two Type-C Port, one on the side (3.0) and on the bottom (2.0).

Camera

The phone flaunts a triple camera setup on the back. There is a 64MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8. It is followed by a 13MP ultrawide camera with a 125-degree field of view and a 5MP macro camera.

On the front, it has a 24MP selfie camera. The phone can record 8K@30fps, 4K slow motions at 120fps, and 1080P videos up to 240fps from the rear camera whereas we can only record 1080@30fps from the front camera.

Performance and Memory

The ROG Phone 5 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset. It has a total of 8 cores which includes 1x 2.84GHz, 3x 2.42GHz, and 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 680 cores. Graphics are handled by Adreno 660 GPU. It runs on Android 11 with ROG UI on the top.

The device is available in only one storage option of 16GB of DDR5x RAM and 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 based storage. You have no option to expand the storage.

Battery & Other Specs

Fueling the device by dual cells each of 3000mAh capacity supports up to 65W of fast wired charging. Although the phone supports up to 10W wired reverse charging, it misses wireless charging. According to the company, the 65W charger can charge the phone up to 100 percent in just 52 minutes.

The device supports WI-FI 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and so on. If you remember, last year’s ROG Phone 3 missed out 3.5mm headphone jack but Asus bring it back with the ROG Phone 5 series.
